fPET 2012 is able to offer partial travel support awards for a few persons to further encourage participation from younger scholars who may have limited means.
Qualifications: Promising scholars under 35 who have submitted an abstract to the fPET web site.
Selection and awards

will be made on the basis of the CVs of the scholars, their travel distances and costs, the quality of their abstracts, and the appropriateness of topics in relation to other submitted abstracts. (For example, if an abstract proposes to present a paper on

philosophy of engineering in Russia, and there are no other abstracts even closely related to this same topic, it would probably be rated higher than a proposed abstract on a topic also addressed by five other abstracts.)
Funds available are modest but might be used to convince home institutions to provide further support.
Applications are due by August 1 and are simple. Just send us an email to Wang Nan (wangnangucas@gmail.com) with 2-page CV attached affirming that you are under 35 and may not be able to attend fPET without some supplementary funding support. Include an estimate of your travel costs.
Decisions and announcements of awards, which will be influenced by the number of requests and expenses, will be made by August 31, 2012

The inaugural fPET, fPET-2010 was an intensive day and a half meeting in May 2010 at the Colorado School of Mines. The mission of the Forum is (1) to encourage reflection on engineering, engineers, and technology by philosophers and engineers alike and (2) to build bridges between existing organizations of philosophers and of engineers. fPET-2012 will be held as a three-day meeting on November 2-4, 2012 (Friday-Sunday) and hosted by the Graduate University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (GUCAS) in Beijing.

Abstracts (500-750 words) are invited for submission in one of four tracks:

Track One: Philosophy of engineering and technology
