The 2008 Workshop on Philosophy and Engineering (WPE-2008) to be held 10-12 November 2008 (Monday-Wednesday) at the Royal Academy of Engineering has issued its final call for participation here. The workshop has 4 keynote speakers, 6 invited tutorials, 45 regular paper presentations, two receptions (one at the Royal Society), and a dedicated tutorial session. Registration includes all social events and lunches. Finalize your plans to attend WPE-2008 and join us for what promises to be a pivotal event at the intersection of philosophy and engineering.
The provisional program has been updated (here). Tom Hughes will be unable to attend the workshop because of health concerns and Jerry Ravetz will speak in his stead on Maintenance as Morality. Sherra Kerns from Olin College will be unable to give her tutorial on Revisiting Engineering Education because of health concerns and her colleague Mark Somerville will take her place. Carl Mitcham will give his keynote talk on Wednesday (instead of Tuesday) and Deborah Johnson will give hers on Tuesday instead of Wednesday.
Registrations are strong and space is limited. Register for the workshop here.
The workshop co-chairs have run into a bit of a problem with a family emergency that has caused an unanticipated delay in paper notifications.
We are hoping that the delay will be cleared up by the end of the week or by Monday, 13 October 2008 at the latest.
We apologize for the inconvenience, and request your patience as we work through these difficulties.
